The ever-evolving mobile landscape has managed to bridge the gap between the consumers and their needs to a great extent. Ease of use and unmatched mobility allow people to stay connected to the world on the go. Mobile traffic surpassed its desktop counterpart for the first time in 2016, and the trend continues today. The Metaverse is the beginning of a new era for the Internet. However, we are yet to tap its full potential. Tech giants like Meta, Epic Games, Microsoft, Roblox and more are working on creating their own metaverse. These 3D virtual worlds take advantage of cutting-edge digital technologies ranging from virtual reality to blockchain.

Currently, metaverse solutions are based on readily available technological gadgets such as computers. Still, for a complete experience, one needs access to a VR-enabled headset. However, thanks to our advances in the digital world, we are on the verge of making a breakthrough in computer-generated holography applications, which may displace the need for headsets. What’s more, tech-driven companies are also innovating haptic gloves that will allow users to interact with 3D virtual objects and make the virtual experience more immersive with movements, textures and pressure. Before the pandemic, the metaverse had received little attention. From businesses to individuals, the pandemic has inspired each one of us to work towards creating remote and connected experiences. The Metaverse could be the answer to all the physical limitations of a post-Covid world. The virtual ecosystem will bring new ways of collaboration and accelerate distance learning. An increase in adaptation to the metaverse is sure to bring new work opportunities and shape a new social infrastructure.

Why Should Businesses Pay Attention to the Metaverse?

Investing in the Metaverse is the key to ensuring a lucrative future for your business. One of the most interesting aspects of the metaverse is that it is linked to the blockchain. Metaverse will be a platform to exchange digital assets for digital currencies to drive the new economy. According to a report by Nonfungible.com, trading in NFTs increased to $17.6 billion last year, registering a 21,000% increase from 2020. In 2021, people made a total profit of $5.4 billion through the sale of NFTs.

You are likely to find your potential customers in the metaverse. The new generation has grown up with virtual reality headsets and spends most of their time in virtual universes like PUBG and GTA Online. If brands want to engage this tech-savvy segment of audience, they need to find them where they are.

The metaverse is a relatively new technology and it will take some time to connect the whole world to it. However, the metaverse will also face some challenges, such as an inability to manage time and differentiate between the virtual and real worlds. We have yet to see how the metaverse changes our lives, but it will certainly change how we interact with technology.
