The Most Sought-After Marketing Jobs In 2022

According to a LinkedIn report, 31% of LinkedIn members worldwide reported job changes in 2021, which includes 618,000 marketers.

The trend was highest in the Asia-Pacific region, which saw a 59% increase in job changes year-on-year. Europe, the Middle East and Africa recorded growth of 46%, while North America had the lowest job change growth at 38%.

There is a clear favorite for the most in-demand skill and learning topic, as LinkedIn reports: Digital Marketing.

This may be due to its wide applicability, although the pandemic-induced shift from in-person to online has also highlighted the importance of the digital sector in a wider range of areas.

Marketing skills that are highly sought after in North America are:

In Europe and the Middle East, the most valuable skills are:

Even with remote options, marketers are moving to bigger cities

The growing trend of remote working is increasing worldwide, with North America leading with a 121% increase in remote jobs, followed by the Asia-Pacific with 77% growth and Europe with 58% growth.

However, even with the rise in remote and hybrid at-home/in-office positions, LinkedIn found that marketing professionals are still moving to larger urban areas. New marketing talent has arrived in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Singapore and Sydney.

In the study, LinkedIn found that many marketers are accepting different positions based on salary and not seniority. North America reported that just 30% of job changes involved promotion with 46% considered lateral moves.

In Europe and Asia, it was actually more common for marketers to go down in seniority when accepting new positions (50% and 47%, respectively).
