Tesla announced this morning that it is raising prices in Israel for the second time this month. The original Tesla SR model will now cost NIS 225,000 before additions, approximately NIS 40,000 more than its launch price in February 2021. The long range (LR) model will now cost NIS 271,000 before the addition, and the price for the performance model has gone up. NIS 299,000.
The prices of Tesla cars manufactured in both China and the US have increased by about $2,000 per car in the past five days. The reason for the latest price hike is a sharp increase in the cost of raw materials from which car batteries are made, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and especially the rise in the price of nickel. Tesla also cited an increase in energy costs for manufacturing as another reason for the increase in prices.
