Power Beacon starts hydropower construction in Pangasinan – BusinessWorld Online

Electricity retailer Power Beacon Renewable Solutions, Inc. has recently laid the groundwork for its hydroelectric facility in Pangasinan.

The facility is expected to be commercially operational by 2024, the company said in a statement on Friday.

The P750 million Dipalo Hydropower Project has a 415-MW capacity and is estimated to generate 18.87 GW of energy annually, which will be used to power the municipalities of San Quentin, Umingen, Tayug and Natividad.

“The project will be the first major industry on the eastern side of Pangasinan and will generate renewable and clean energy in support of the local government unit’s emphasis on improving the lives of the people of San Quentin,” said Engr, president of Power Beacon. Armando El Diaz.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by representatives and officials from the Department of Energy, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the National Water Resources Board and the Development Bank of the Philippines.

The project uses the diversion wear strategy to assure the ecological sustainability of the Dipalo River, and capitalizes on the difference in height measuring 210 meters, generating enough driving force that connects the turbines with the electric generators.

The redirected water course back to the Dipalo River Park and the National Irrigation Administration’s irrigation facility.

Meanwhile, two vertical Pelton turbines were acquired from Austrian hydroelectric plant technology provider Global Hydro Energy.

San Quentin Mayor Clark Cecil P. Tu expressed the municipality’s readiness to cooperate with the project’s development, and said that its components would be prioritized for employment opportunities from construction.

There are plans to connect the hydroelectric plant to the Pangasinan III Electric Cooperative and distribute to its consumer base. , Ram Christian S. agustin
