Koo self-verification goes live for general users on voluntary basis. Details

Homegrown micro-blogging platform, Ku launched self-verification for normal users which is voluntary. A ‘Green Tick’ will be given to the general public as a verification mark. Major profiles on the Ku app get a yellow tick. Self-Verification is the first in the industry launched by Bengaluru-based Ku App.

Any user can now self-verify their profile on the platform using their government approved ID card. The Ku app is available in eight languages, including English. In India, it competes with Twitter.

Users enter the government-ID number, enter the OTP, and on successful authentication, get self-verified with a green tick in their profile. The company claims that the entire process is completed in a few seconds. The verification process is done by third-parties authorized by the government. Ku will not store any information during the process.

Koo Co-Founder and CEO Apramaya Radhakrishna said, “So Koo is at the forefront of promoting trust and safety on social media. We are extremely proud to be the first social media platform in the world to introduce a voluntary self-verification system. Users can self-verify in less than 30 seconds through our safe and secure verification process. This is a big step towards giving more authenticity to the users and promoting responsible behavior on the platform. Most social media gives this power to only a few accounts. Kuo is the first platform that has now empowered every user to have equal privileges.”
