Before dazzling (literally) on screen as vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, and playing the lead role in The Batman, Robert channeled his supernatural abilities as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. While most people might associate Robert Pattinson with that character, the actor once shared that he and Cedric could no longer be apart. According to Robert Pattinson: The Unauthorized Biography, he admitted that he wasn’t very fond of the character that helped propel his career.
“I hate him,” Robert said of the role, which arguably put him on the map, according to the book. “I hated everyone in my school like Cedric.” The actor was 17 when he was cast in the Harry Potter franchise. Interestingly, he chose Harry Potter to go to university, as revealed in a 2017 interview with Time Out London.
He also elaborated on what really set him apart from his on-screen character. Robert said that he was never a leader, and that the idea of making him the head boy would have been a complete joke. “I wasn’t much involved in school, and I was never selected for any team,” he said.
Calling it “quite difficult”, Robert explained why playing the handsome wizard in Harry Potter was a challenge. “In the book, and in the first introduction of my character in the script, it’s like ‘an absurdly beautiful 17-year-old,’ and when you’re trying to act, it turns you off a little bit, and you Also trying to get good angles to look nice and good.
